Differences and Convergences in doing anti-racism.

Tempting as it might be to uncritically translate “blakaman”, “zwarte mensen”, “Afro-descendientes”, and “hende color scur” into each other, and into the North American term “Black”, such a move obscures more than it reveals. In this talk I offer ways of recognizing the differences and convergences that people who are “darker than blue” experience in Caribbean societies, Latin America, and the USA. Appreciating the differences and convergences enables a more effective, progressive, and tailor-made way of doing anti-racism suited to the realities in the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
