Young Talent! Brokking & Van Vliet perform Schumann's Dichterliebe
A Sunday morning recital in the Sint Aegtenkapel
On Sunday morning 8 November, the young talents Eduard van Vliet (bass) and Pieter Brokking (piano) present Dichterliebe in the concert hall of the beautiful Sint Aegtenkapel in Amersfoort.
Eduard van Vliet (bass-baritone, 20) and Pieter Brokking (piano, 20) both study at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague. They are close friends and well matched as musicians. Together they take the audience through a complete love story from two centuries ago.
Passion, infatuation, rejection and acceptance: all of these are ingredients of the sixteen songs that together form the famous Dichterliebe. And how special that two young men, close in age to Schumann when he wrote these gems, now perform these songs almost 200 years later.
Alongside Schumann's Dichterliebe, the programme includes songs by Schubert, Brahms, Loewe and Mendelssohn.

Eduard van Vliet has sung in a boys' choir since early childhood and started playing the piano at the age of seven. He studied with vocal teacher Irene Verburg and pianist Willem Brons, took part in De TUIN, the talent development programme of the Nationale Koren, and attended masterclasses with Elly Ameling, Peter Kooij and Henk Neven, among others. As a soloist and ensemble singer he has performed at the Concertgebouw, TivoliVredenburg and the Muziekgebouw aan 't IJ, and as a boy soprano he appeared in AUS LICHT at Dutch National Opera. Since September he has been studying at the Royal Conservatoire with the French baritone Yann Toussaint.
Pieter Brokking grew up in a musical family and began piano lessons at the age of eight. He currently studies with Ellen Corver at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague and is a prizewinner of, among others, the Spotlight Competition 2025 and the Young Talent Competition Maassluis 2024. He recently made his debut with the Concertgebouw Chamber Orchestra. His playing is marked by sincerity and commitment: he plays to move his audience.
Dichterliebe starts at 11:00 in the Sint Aegtenkapel in Amersfoort. Admission is €20.
