Are you a citytripper? Then Amersfoort should definitely not be missing from your bucket list. Because this burgundian city with its historic features is buzzing! There is a wide choice of restaurants and cafes, you can shop extensively in the many shopping areas and there is cultural beauty to marvel at.

If you want to see everything, one day is really not enough. Therefore, stay overnight. These five hotels are perfect for an overnight stay during your city trip.

If you want to feel like a real local, this is the ideal place. With one step outside the door you are in the middle of the cozy city center. Long John's Pub & Hotel is in a lively street and adjacent to the Lieve Vrouwenplein with its bustling hospitality industry. For a hotel in the middle of the city, the surroundings are remarkably green, thanks to the many large trees surrounding the hotel. As far as I am concerned, this adds to the atmosphere.

Breakfast is served downstairs in the cozy pub, the bright conservatory or outside on the terrace. Good to know: the rooms are well insulated. So you have the bustle of the city, but not the noise if you want to sleep in after a night out.

Do you love adventure and are you looking for something unique? Then a night’s stay at the charming Vita Nova ship hotel is highly recommended. Drift off to sleep to the sound of the lapping water in a ship’s cabin, with all the comforts of a modern hotel room. In the cozy lounge, you can enjoy breakfast, play games, or have a drink.

Fun fact: the Vita Nova is one of the most completely preserved ships of its kind in Europe. It’s located in the heart of De Nieuwe Stad, within walking distance of the historic city center and close to Eemplein. Plenty of opportunities to get out and explore. De Gaaper is located in a beautifully restored national monument, right in the heart of Amersfoort’s historic city center. It has a cozy atmosphere and offers a wide selection of rooms. Fun fact: the building is the oldest stone residence in Amersfoort, and you can see that in various details. It once housed (among other things) a pharmacy. As a nod to that history, they’ve collected a beautiful array of “gapers” that you can admire.

Downstairs in the cozy coffee house -and on the terrace in nice weather- you can have breakfast or enjoy a cup of coffee. Being right in the center, you can enjoy people-watching.

Located in the heart of the city center, between the medieval old town and the industrial railway complex, is the four-star Hotel Mercure. As soon as you walk in, the warm, dark colors create a luxurious atmosphere. And that sense of elegance isn’t limited to the colors alone. You can choose from a variety of rooms and make your stay as luxurious as you’d like. All rooms feature a rain shower, but if you opt for a suite, you can relax in the double whirlpool tub. Mercure is within walking distance of Eemplein, De Nieuwe Stad , and the bustling city center. Tip: choose a room with a view of the city. Because you’re so high up, the view is truly fantastic!
