Into the woods is the multi-genre electronic music festival in Amersfoort where techno and insane art installations come together. The bark is cracking, the roots are shooting deeper into the ground, the trees are you looking for more grip to stand even more firmly in the ground. Into the Woods takes place in woodland Birkhoven. Upon arrival, you enter a magical world filled with colorful art installations, enchanting lighting and contrary music.

Local roots
Into the Woods not only takes place on Amersfoort's forest soil; it is also a product of Amersfoort soil. A local group of friends - including brothers Siep and Sijmen Stronks, Paul Niezen and Timo Spruitenburg - put on a first, high-profile edition in 2010. Since then, the organization has continued to grow under the name Kultlab. Festivals such as Lepeltje Lepeltje and Wildeburg come from their kitchen.

Did you know...
As much budget goes to the creative interpretation of the festival as to the lineup? Everywhere where look, you see the most insane art installations. For example, in 2023 you'll spot a UV-lit geometric web among the branches and make a stop in the Organ Forest. The only thing missing from the festival? Signposts! That's no coincidence: the idea is to get lost and discover hidden chill spots, stages and art.

Friction makes shine
All those creative ideas didn't come out of the blue. Maurice van de Berkt, a seasoned Kultlabber, says the internal discussions were fierce in the beginning. "We even fought over what color the coins should be. Now there are still those friction-makes-shine moments. The team has just gotten so big that you have to pick the right moments."
