This year Amersfoort packs big with a liberation celebration throughout the city! Both in the neighborhoods and on the Hof, Groenmarkt Enjoy sparkling live performances, the tunes of vinyl DJs and a delicious beer. Besides the usual fun, there are also new activities, such as the entry of the Freedom Flame, various freedom meals and a parade of defense vehicles. Celebrate freedom your way!

ARMY VEHICLES KEEP THEM ROLLING
Starting at 10:30 a.m., an impressive column of historic military vehicles will drive through the streets of Amersfoort. After the ride, the vehicles will be displayed at the Groenmarkt, Lieve Vrouwekerkhof and De Hof.

The festival on Krankeledenplantsoen is accessible only through Boothill Saloon and Long John's. Please note: Last year's event was quickly crowded, so arrive on time!

This year Liberation Day is extra special: we are celebrating 80 years of freedom. In addition to the celebration on May 5 may there are inspiring commemorations, exhibitions and events throughout the year. Dive into the stories, reflect on our history and celebrate freedom!

Did you know.
Amersfoort was not liberated until may 7? There was still fighting on may 5. On may 7 and 8 the British and Canadian soldiers entered Amersfoort and the city was liberated!
