Step inside one of Amersfoort's most special historical places. The Mannenzaal from 1536 is part of the more than 600-year-old St. Pieters and Bloklands Gasthuis and, with 22 original bedsteads, is a rare preserved example of social care from earlier times.
Stories of former residents, changing exhibitions in the chapel and historical role-playing games bring this unique location to life. The carefully made-up bedsteads, the centuries-old furniture and the authentic atmosphere show how people lived here for generations. You can even experience how people used to sleep in a specially decorated box bed.

Every Saturday from April 4 to October 31 (except September 12), the Living History Foundation brings the year 1907 to life in the Mannenzaal. Meet residents who spent their last years of life here and discover their stories of poverty, togetherness, rules, hope and small moments of happiness.
