Go back in time....
The Museum dwelling in the St. Bonifaciusstraat 61, is a gift of housing corporation Portaal to the Soesterkwartier on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of this organization. The history of Portaal began with the establishment of the Housing Association St. Bonifacius.
“Since its inception, the Soesterkwartier has played a unique role in the history of Amersfoort. The neighborhood originated when the railroads built a workshop there in 1904, which later became wagenwerkplaats. The workers who were employed there needed a place to live, and since in those days everyone still walked to work, a neighborhood was built along the old road from Amersfoort to Soest. The Soesterkwartier became Amersfoort’s first true working-class neighborhood.”
There are regular exhibitions , which are very worthwhile.
