The old gas station | Jerusalem
The former BP gas station, built in 1957 to a design by Arie Jeremias van Wageningen and Arie Rooimans, was inspired by architect Willem Dudok. The building has a glass service area on the street side and a garage in the back, separated by a brick wall. Originally, a mural by Jan Boon graced the dividing wall; during the 2014-2016 restoration, it was replaced with a glass mosaic by Frank Biermans, based on the original design. The monumental gas station, protected since 2011 by SIESTA, is a reminder of the city's industrial history and now serves as an ice cream parlor(IJs van Vitelli).
