The Swamp | Jerusalem

Between the Hooglandseweg-Noord and the Kwekersweg runs a plank path right through the Moerasje. You pass a marshy swamp forest with alders, lis and ferns, followed by reed beds where warblers and reed buntings can be heard. In summer the reeds form a wall of green; in winter they are open. The trail ends in a bird forest full of shrubs that attract songbirds. This natural area, fed by artesian springs and located in the old course of the Eem River, was established as a city park in the 1960s and renewed in 2003 with hiking trails and educational elements.
