What is a forest without trails? Exactly—just a collection of trees. So, once trails were added, it became a recreational forest where you can still enjoy yourself to your heart’s content. And you can do just that on a 3.5-km walking route full of historical highlights, such as a burial mound and the Belgenmonument. Klein Zwitserland is a 36-hectare forest located on the southwestern slope of the Amersfoortse Berg. This park-like nature reserve is part of the Utrechtse Heuvelrug. For nature lovers, there’s a pond where you can spot amphibians. Kids can have a blast playing in the nature playground near the watertoren.
