The pride of the church is the famous panel showing the finding of the miraculous statue of Our Lady of Amersfoort of 1444. Remnants of the figurine are still kept in the shrine today. Furthermore, the walls of the church are adorned by a unique collection of paintings from the period around 1650.
The organ is by August Gern. He was born in Berlin in 1837, the son of the cabinetmaker Friedrich Gern and Joanna Juliane Rink. From 1860 he worked in the workshop of the famous Parisian organ maker Aristide Cavaillé-Coll (1811-1899). He settled in London and opened his own workshop. From about 1885, his style changed, incorporating German influences into his French concept. August Gern died in 1907 at his home in Notting Hill.
Visits for groups can also be arranged separately through Pastor Rudolf Scheltinga: pastoor@amersfoort.okkn.nl
