Warehouse 't Spijker | Gildekwartier
Pakhuis 't Spijker, built in the 17th century as a grain store, once stood directly on the Eem. The building fell into disrepair, was repaired several times in the 20th century, and changed functions from grain storage to carpentry and rental for water sports activities. After a long period of vacancy, it was permanently demolished in 2005. Only the outline of the historic warehouse is still visible in the sidewalk. Plans by project developer Schipper Bosch envision a future hospitality pavilion on this site, with the historical context and nearby old warehouses such as d'Eersteling recalling the harbor's industrial history.
