In the exhibition 'The Power of Soft - a dialogue of silk & wool' by Zsófia Marx & Ellen Bakker they present a series of textile objects in which softness, poetry and form merge. They have been working together for a long time and share a strong fascination for color, pattern and form. In their joint work, which they call Artful Objects, they combine hand-painted silk with wool. The silk is painted by Ellen and forms the starting point in color and image. Zsófia processes the silk into tactile, spatial objects in which softness and firmness reinforce each other. It is a unique collaboration in which everyone's signature remains recognizable. The collaboration is based on experimentation and trust in the material and in each other.

In the exhibition “The Power of Softness—A Dialogue of Silk & Wool” by Zsófia Marx & Ellen Bakker, they present a series of textile objects in which softness, poetry, and form merge. They have been collaborating for some time and share a strong fascination with color, pattern, and form. In their collaborative work, which they call Artful Objects, they combine hand-painted silk with wool. Ellen paints the silk, which serves as the starting point for color and imagery. Zsófia transforms the silk into tactile, three-dimensional objects in which softness and sturdiness reinforce one another. It is a unique collaboration in which each artist’s signature style remains recognizable. The collaboration is based on experimentation and trust in the material as well as in each other.

In addition to their collaborative work, Ellen and Zsófia are exhibiting a selection of their solo work. Zsófia Marx presents a number of three-dimensional solo objects that reveal her exploration of felt as an autonomous material. Ellen Bakker presents her collection of hand-painted silk and felt, including paintings, wall objects, and grand foulards. Her work is characterized by intense use of color, graphic forms, transparency, and layering.

Ellen Bakker will lead a silk-painting workshop on Saturday, August 15, 2026, and Zsófia Marx will lead a BLOOM workshop on Saturday, September 19, 2026.
