Take a look in advance
Writer and master storyteller Abdelkader Benali, together with violinist and theatre maker Myrthe Helder, wanders through the ancient history of the Mediterranean. Accompanied by musicians from Orchestre Partout, we will hear classical music, Turkish and Sufi melodies, Cretan sounds, Malouf, flamenco and Arabic maqam - music that transcends borders, bridges centuries and opens worlds.
Café Kaváfis is a place where no one asks what you have come to do, and where arriving and leaving is natural. In a corner of the café, a man sits writing poems. He watches the people come and go, away from the Meditteranean light that falls hard on the streets at noon. They are travelers, traders, tourists, musicians, businessmen, refugees and lovers. The arrack flows and the musicians begin to play. They have come from far away - from Genoa, Aleppo, Tangier, Crete, Amsterdam, Granada and Beirut.

They bring stories. About war and love. About mass tourism and ancient civilizations. About longing for a better world, and dreams of a future still uncertain.
