The vivacious Vera is out partying in Rotterdam with her friends Inaya and Roos. She heads home drunk and is hit by a truck. Hours later, she wakes up in the hospital and discovers that her left leg has been amputated. How will she live with this? It’s a painful challenge for someone who is naturally independent and headstrong: “Fuck you!” In Xander—who is also in a wheelchair but is an aspiring stand-up comedian—she finds a kindred spirit: someone who also openly defies society’s perception of people with disabilities.
