Le Comte de Monte-Cristo is a suspenseful French costume drama based on the novel by Alexandre Dumas. The young sailor Edmond Dantès (Pierre Niney) is falsely accused on his wedding day and imprisoned in the infamous Châtea d'If. After fourteen years, he manages to escape and discovers a hidden treasure on the island of Monte-Cristo. As the mysterious Count of Monte-Cristo, he returns to take revenge on those who betrayed him. This epic film by directors Matthieu Delaporte and Alexandre de La Patellière attracted nine million viewers in France alone.
