New Talent Orchestra

Have you always wanted to learn to play a musical instrument, but can't read notes? Or does making music together seem wonderful to you, but you have no musical experience? Then this is your chance, because Scholen in de Kunst organizes in cooperation with various music associations a New Talent Orchestra next season!

Adults without musical experience can learn to play a wind or percussion instrument and make music together in the New Talent Orchestra. The New Talent Orchestra method was developed in Friesland and has since been successfully applied throughout the Netherlands.

On the initiative of Scholen in de Kunst a New Talent Orchestra will start again in Amersfoort in the spring of 2025. In this project orchestra you will be given a loan instrument of your choice and you will be accompanied by an experienced player from one of the participating Amersfoort music associations.

From the first lesson you will then play together in an orchestra under the direction of a professional conductor. In 10 lessons you will learn step by step the basics of playing your instrument and making music together. And so you take the first steps towards a great hobby.

The Nieuw Talent Orkest in Amersfoort is made possible by the efforts of members of the musical associations Wilskracht, KAMV and HLO.

free orchestra workshop
On January 11, 2025 we are organizing a free orchestra workshop to see if the NTO is something for you. In two hours you will be introduced to an instrument of your choice, learn to play a few notes and already make music together. Experienced musicians from music associations and teachers from Scholen in de Kunst will help you discover your instrument.

Currently, all spots for alto saxophone, drums and marimba are already taken. You can still choose horn, tenor saxophone, clarinet, flute, trumpet, baritone and trombone. The number of places varies per instrument.

Practical information
If you decide to join the New Talent Orchestra, you will learn the basics of playing your instrument step by step in 10 lessons. And from the beginning you will make music together under the direction of a professional conductor.

If you join the NTO, it is important that you attend the free orchestra workshop and the first three lessons. Here the basics are explained and taught which are necessary for the further lessons. So if you can't make one of these dates, don't sign up. If you miss these lessons, you will keep a backlog that cannot be made up.

Participation costs € 100, you can sign up via the registration form.

The classes are on the following Saturdays, from 3 p.m. - 4 p.m. in the Eemhuis:

On the last day of classes we will give a final concert for family and friends.
