Workshop: Block Printing

During this activity you will start with a guided tour of the Mondrian House and discover, together with a museum teacher, more about the artists' methods and artworks. Then you will walk together to the Cotton Printing Workshop in the Volmolen to get to work yourself, under the guidance of Nathalie Cassée. Inspired by the artworks, you can unleash your own creativity in the art of cotton printing. Choose your printing blocks and discover how patterns are created, at the end of this hour-long workshop you will go home with your own textile creation.

Under the title Order and Intuition, the Mondrian House will present work by Irene Companjen (stencil printing) and Theo Rooden (weaving) from February 28 through June 28, 2026. In the exhibition, both artists show their search for balance in their own way. Companjen works with self-designed stamps on linen, while Rooden creates patterns with thread and loom. The worlds of print and thread meet in an exhibition in which both organizing principles and intuition guide the creative process.
