Musical fairy tale adventure: 'Puss in Boots' comes to life
On Saturday, June 20, 2026, Orkestvereniging Amersfoort will perform the famous fairy tale De Gelaarsde Kat. During two concerts, children and their families will be taken on a magical adventure, where afterwards they themselves play the leading role by trying out different musical instruments.
A classic in a new guise
Although the best-known version of The Puss in Boots dates from 1697, composer Dirk van der Niet has given the story a fresh, contemporary twist. Without compromising the core of the story, he has freely rewritten the text and made it fit seamlessly with his own compositions. The narration is specifically tailored to young children, making for an exciting and understandable experience.

Narrator Max Starr brings to life the cat's cunning plan and the adventures of the miller's son. But the afternoon doesn't stop at just listening. After the performance, children will have a chance to get up close and personal with the musical instruments from the orchestra and try them out for themselves under the guidance of orchestra members.
