LaMostra pays tribute to The Pogues and delivers Irish folk music with the intensity of a punk band. Intensely rauw yet melodic—and sung in Dutch.

The initiative for this project came from Jan Heijnders and John Zielman. Jan had been thinking for years about doing something with the lyrics and music of Shane Macgowan and approached John, who was immediately enthusiastic. Jan adapted the lyrics and John the music. When they got the feeling this was going to be something, the two of them already rocked, they approached musician friends to join them. They all turned out to have something to do with The Pogues in their own way. Marcel van der Schot, for instance, turned out to play their entire repertoire on his accordion.

Jan Heijnders discovered The Pogues in 1985 after hearing their second album Rum, Sodomy & the Lash. "On the surface Shane's lyrics are about drinking, fucking and fighting, but his compositions betrayed a great poetic talent. There was no band that managed to elicit both laughter and tears during performances like The Pogues. Crying and hopping and sometimes both at the same time."
