Amersfoort Open Yard Day

September is harvest time. Orchards are bursting with apples and pears, and throughout the region, local entrepreneurs are crafting the most delicious regional products.

During Amersfoort’s Open Farm Day on Saturday, September 12, you’ll get a unique glimpse into the farms of six local food producers.

You can visit the locations at your own pace or join the free bike relay, which takes you past all participating farms. At each location, you’ll get a guided tour lasting about half an hour and discover how they produce sustainable, local, and fair-trade food. You can decide for yourself how many stops you’d like to visit by bike (or even all of them!).

The following food producers are participating in Open Farm Day:

1. Tussen de Hagen Farm
Located just an 11-minute bike ride from Amersfoort, this organic farm produces eggs and raw milk, among other things. The farm is gradually transitioning to regenerative farming practices.

2. Van Ginkel Fruit Farm
Discover how blueberries, figs, and plums are grown and sample fresh, seasonal produce.

3. Stoutenburg Pick-Your-Own Garden
A sustainable pick-your-own garden full of seasonal flowers. Put together your own colorful bouquet.

4. Oogst van Eigen Erf
Sample artisanal jams, chutneys, and fresh ice cream, and discover the milk tap and other products from the farm.

5. Blommendal Care Farm
A therapeutic farm offering daytime activities for children and adults, as well as a farm shop full of local products.

6. Oude Ruif Farm
Pick your own vegetables, fruit, and herbs in the harvest garden and take a look at the chickens that lay colorful eggs.
