À pied d'oeuvre is based on the autobiography and bestselling novel of the same name by Franck Courtes, in which Paul gives up his successful career as a photographer to devote himself to his true passion: writing. However, sales of his books are disappointingly low. As a result, his financial resources run out, and he finds himself in a state of great uncertainty. To make ends meet, he takes on odd jobs as a handyman. At first, this is quite sobering, but it ultimately yields something for him: writing inspiration.
