Gilde Amersfoort is organizing two special free walks on the occasion of International Women's Day on March 8. These will focus on a number of women who have colored the history of Amersfoort in a special way and were able to make a difference. Like Catharina van Someren (photo), who once founded an orphanage, Alida Withoos as an important artist and Annie Brouwer-Korf who became the first female mayor of Amersfoort.
But also "ordinary" women pass by, who brewed beer, made clothes or cared for the sick. And of course the women who stood at the cradle of 'Amersfoort Pilgrims City'.
The walk is free, but ticket is required, downloadable at www.gildeamersfoort.nl.
