The cricket who prefers to call himself Flierefluiter. The Verlangslang that never leaves while dreaming. The Thought Turtle who falls in love with a Bird who lovingly contradicts him. And, of course, the Wise Bear, who becomes philosophically stranded on a beach that is far too warm. According to the dictionary, a fable is a short story that proclaims a generally known truth by means of a striking example. But do generally known truths still exist in a world where we increasingly disagree?

The dazzling musical performance 'Fabels' puts the truth to the test. Together, players, musicians and audience take an imaginative journey through forests, deserts, rivers, volcanoes and ice floes. Age-old stories are shuffled, pruned and reassembled in a procession of wondrous encounters between equally wondrous creatures.

Composers Osama Abdulrasol and Erik Desimpelaere together with Naomi van der Horst, Sophia Bauer, Ibe Rossel and Sarah Yu Zeebroek create an ode to the classic animal fable: humorous, melancholic and musical.
