Saxophonist Alexander Beets plays all over the world, but grew up in the Achterhoek. Here you could only make jazz if a healthy dose of blues, funk and soul was added. This afternoon, the "groove" is central.
Especially for this Sunday afternoon in Observant, Alexander has put together a program with classics by George Benson, David Sanborn, Count Basie and Duke Ellington larded with his own work and stories about his experiences in Africa and Asia. He brings along singer/guitarist and toestenist Baer Traa, trumpeter Ellister van der Molen, bassist Marius Beets and drummer Sven Rozier.
