Things are not looking good for fifty-somethings Carlobianchi and Doriano. They are nearly broke. Since the 2008 financial crisis, the small-time crooks have failed to set up a lucrative scam. Their last hope is the return of their comrade Genio, who hid the loot from a job before his flight to Argentina. Francesco Sossai's tragicomic road movie Andiamo a bere l'ultima premiered in Cannes last year, was subsequently selected for the festivals of Toronto, New York, Thessaloniki and Gothenburg, among others, and won no fewer than eight David di Donatello Awards (the Italian film awards), including for Best Film, Best Director and Best Male Lead.
