Saxophonist Patrieck Bonnet and guitarist Casper Christensen first met in The Hague in the winter of 2019. They gave several concerts together in Bruges, after which Casper returned to Denmark shortly thereafter. Time passed, until coincidence brought them together again in Paris in February 2024. This unexpected meeting led to a musical collaboration resulting in the album Wildflower.

A field flower (Wildflower) often grows in the roadside and so passes your attention, yet it is also an organism that goes through a full life cycle. A seed that germinates, a plant that blossoms and with attention you experience it all. With the album Wildflower, these musicians celebrate the surprises that life sometimes offers.

Patrieck and Casper both contributed a number of their own pieces that proved to go surprisingly well together. Both men have a lyrical approach with an emphasis on swing and are deeply rooted in the jazz tradition. Their musical interaction created a sense of harmony and developed into this album with curiosity and dedication.

Patrieck Bonnet is active in the Dutch jazz scene and has played with the Dutch Jazz Collective and Peter Beets & the New Jazz Orchestra, among others. His style is lyrical, in the approach of tenor saxophonists such as Hank Mobley, Stan Getz and Dexter Gordon.

Guitarist Casper Christensen is inspired by such masters as Jim Hall, Wes Montgomery and Doug Raney. Christensen is a well-known name in the Danish jazz scene. He has played with Eric Ineke, Philippe Soiret, Bob Gullotti, Baptist Herbin and Frands Rifbjerg, among others.

Bassist Cas Jiskoot and drummer Imre Kruis complete the formation.

This performance is made possible in part by the Fonds Podiumkunsten.
