On Saturday evening, June 6, the St. Joris Chamber Choir will give a special a cappella concert in the beautiful, historic Sint-Joriskerk. There is a strong tradition in Germany of double-choir music: one choir sings on the left, the other on the right, and the music moves back and forth through space. You can't hear this on a recording, but live it is an impressive experience. Many well-known composers worked in this tradition. They knew the work of their predecessors and contemporaries and drew inspiration from it. Think, for example, of Brahms who was inspired by Schütz. Or Johann Sebastian Bach who elaborated on work by Johann Christoph Bach. Later, Bach himself became an example for Rheinberger. At this concert you will hear how these composers have influenced each other throughout the centuries. Sometimes the music sounds powerful and grand, sometimes soft and intimate. But always you will hear the special interaction between the two choirs.

Commencement is 8:15 p.m. Location is the Sint-Joriskerk, Hof 1 in Amersfoort.
