Wood Nymphs – Balkan Rhythms & Flamenco Dance

In *Wood Nymphs*, Bulgarian percussionist and marimba virtuoso Tatiana Koleva brings together two rich musical worlds: the rousing rhythms of the Balkans and the fiery expression of flamenco. In a poetic and sensory spectacle, surrounded by a wooden installation that functions as a living sound body, she engages in an intense dialogue with flamenco dancer Claudia Karapanou.

Together, they explore the “twelve counts”: a rhythmic cycle that plays a central role in both flamenco and Balkan music. The performance is loosely inspired by stories and legends from Bulgaria and Andalusia. Themes such as love, celebration, jealousy, and mysticism come to life through specially composed music and dance.
