Introdans presents a new adaptation of the classic opera story Carmen, a dance production for the whole family. Impressive, full of temperament and passion; olé! In his Carmen.maquia, Spanish choreographer Gustavo Ramírez Sansano tells the gripping story of love and the destructive power of jealousy. The gentle soldier Don José falls like a log for the fiery Carmen, but she will not commit to one man.

The whole tableau of Introdans can be seen in this classic in a new look, with surprising twist. Everything is in black and white; from the Picasso-like decor to the beautiful costumes. The cadence of the flamenco, paso doble and the emotions give this family performance (6-106 years) extra sparkle. After the great success of Carmen in 2022, Introdans will repeat this evening-length performance in the winter months of 2025-2026.

Gustavo Ramírez Sansano deliberately calls his version of Carmen slightly different, namely Carmen.maquia. "I derived this title from tauromaquia, which is Spanish for 'the art of bullfighting,'" he said. Pablo Picasso often compared Carmen to an indomitable bull, so I removed 'tauro' and added 'Carmen.' Carmen the indomitable!"
