2023 was a banner year for saxophonist Loek van den Berg: he won an Edison Jazz award in the Newcomer category, his composition Wayfarer was chosen as best composition at the Dutch Jazz Competition and NRC qualified him as "Rising Star Jazz. Earlier this year, his second album Seafarer was released, garnering praise from European jazz media. "So beautiful! The ear for detail is amazing," said Trouw. Japanese-Austrian pianist Aseo Friesacher is his constant companion.

Efraim Trujillo + Rembrandt Frerichs - The Standards Collection Vol.1
Rembrandt Frerichs debuted at the North Sea Jazz Festival at the age of 22 and worked with saxophonist Michael Brecker, among others, who said of him, "This guy sounds great." In his playing he is influenced by Arab music styles and philosophy in addition to the American jazz tradition. Saxophonist Efraïm Trujillo (you know him from The Preacher Men with which he won the Edison Jazz Publiekprijs in 2019) is a fellow believer when it comes to the jazz tradition, fusion is another great true love. Expect standards, but different.
