We see young Jeffrey's journey after his hepatitis C diagnosis in 1999. At the same time, based on interviews, we dive behind the scenes at the pharmaceutical company that owns the curing but prohibitively expensive drug. Key figures from the chain of drug development pass by: from idealistic lab technicians to shrewd investors. In parallel, the love story between Jeffrey and his partner Max unfolds, at a time when Jeffrey is becoming increasingly ill. When the drug appears on the Dutch market in 2014, there is great public discussion about the price. How much should a human life cost? Who will pay for it? And will this drug get to Jeffrey in time?
