An ode to composer Georg Friedrich Handel, part of September Me festival
The resurrection of the sirens from the water has long since ceased to involve a vulgar massacre. That is a myth. In reality, it is widely known that today the Syrènes literally blow the life force back into anyone who is seduced by their sounds.
Because the Syrènes feel most at home in and on the water, they once again dive into the deep end and surface with an ode to one of their most beloved composers, Georg Friedrich Handel. In doing so, they bring an entirely new approach to his famous work Water Music. Water, as a constant element that seemingly never changes but always flows and is in motion, forms the link between past and present.

Armed with modern instruments, the Syrènes enter into a watertight collaboration with Handel. They manage to interpret the richness of a full orchestra in a precisely measured arrangement for saxophone quartet. In the process, they draw live inspiration from his suites, which they seamlessly interweave with spectacular ambient music and improvisation. In the hands of the Syrènes, the 300-year-old work turns out to be a modern whirling dance on the surface of the water.
