XANUUN (Somali for "pain") is a physical, probing performance about power, origins, and the impact of language. Choreographer Mohamed Yusuf Boss brings dance, words and music together to make a rauw and urgent statement.

Based on the experiences of young Somali migrants, XANUUN shows how words affect the body - how exclusion and resistance translate into movement. From a radio booth, inspired by "hate radio," texts can be heard that physically affect the dancers. Stairs and Grime amplify the tension: explosive, emotional and engaged.

XANUUN is expression, resistance and remembrance. A powerful call to listen to voices that often go unheard.
