Esther van Hees sings big band jazz as easily as she sings cabaret, and bass guitarist Reindert Kragt (of garage jazz group Kruidkoek) single-handedly forms the band, "a fragile dare but the fusion is beautiful," the NRC said of the duo that goes by the name Blue Sands. "For You is at times even enchanting," wrote the Volkskrant about their new record. Their sound is cinematic, dreamy and quirky, inspired by jazz classics, classical composers, '90s grunge and Disney movie songs.
