Arend lives in a telephone switchboard. Day and night, he connects hundreds of callers and everything runs like clockwork. In this tangle of buttons and cables, he feels at home; here he knows his way around. Mistakes are not made. No, making mistakes... Arend finds that the most horrible thing there is. He takes his work very seriously. Because what would happen if people were misconnected? That would be downright disastrous.

But then, one night, suddenly his own phone rings. A mysterious caller tells him to connect himself. But ... to whom? And why? And how? What now? And why did that voice sound so terribly familiar?
